Whoo Hoo!!!
Newton has found his special new home. Adopted this
week by a young couple prepared to meet his special
needs, HART would like to thank Angelika at Fuzzy
Love Rescue and Sanctuary, for healing Newton, over
these long weeks.
Angelika
will continue to follow up on Newton's transition to
his new family, providing training and special needs
support until Newton is confident with his new
folks.
Thank
you to everyone out there, that also believed this
animal was worthy of rescue and your financial
support.
Special
needs animals are some of the most deserving of
our nurture and support, having often suffered the
indignities of cruel abuse and neglect.
Please
support "special needs" with your online donations
to Newton's Fund.
HART would like to thank
the public for helping Newton. His condition is steadily
improving with ongoing treatment from a veterinary
allergy specialist. Newton now has 20% return of
hearing. Along with improvements in hearing, Newton's
behavioural issues have begun to resolve.
The plight of the black and white Newf tugged at the
heartstrings of those both within and outside our
community. Funds raised have superseded those required
for Newton's care. Thanks to the incredible outpouring
of generosity for Newton, a new reserve fund has been
established in his name. The Newton Fund will provide
specialized surgeries and medical care for animals that
are rescued by HART. Last year alone HART provided
life-or-death emergency care for Miss Kitty, Cass,
Schindler, Lilou, Molly, and Amber.
The Newton Fund is currently providing for two very
deserving animals, Huckleberry and Tikki Tavi.
At 1 and 1/2 years old, only a pup, Huckleberry was held
in the pound for 8 weeks coping with the pain of a
fractured pelvis, 2 bullets lodged in hip muscle and
severe pneumonia in one lung, moderate pneumonia in the
second lung. With exceptional vet care at Algonquin East
Animal Clinic and the loving touch of his foster mom,
Huckleberry has come a very long way.
Tikki Tavi, a little Siamese stray kitten, was found
with an atrophied foot. It is amazing she survived her
obvious ordeal in an animal trap. All nerves/blood
supply were cut off to the foot, leaving it little more
than bone and leathery claw. Her foot has now been
amputated and she is doing well in her foster home.
That good folks are forthcoming to help assist HART with
this work, validates our own belief that animals are
deserving of this dignity, respect and relief from what
has often been a lifetime of suffering.
Special thanks to Faraday Veterinary Hospital, Amanda
and Angelica at Pawsitive Praise Rescue, Lisa at Siber
Rescue, who all played a role in Newton's care.
Original Appeal for Newton
Newton is
not ready to die! But euthanization might be the only
choice if funds for his surgery are not quickly found.
Callously
abandoned, Newton was found tied to a desolate highway
signpost. Not even a dish of water was left to refresh
him on a sweltering day. We can only imagine the
hardship of this deserving dog's past life.
Help HART to
help give him the dignity of a life he has always
deserved.
A passing
motorist rescued Newton from his desperate plight and
turned him in to HART. He has been neutered, vaccinated
and a surgery to remove growths from his ear canal, has
been performed. Because the growths have returned,
further surgery is required.
Poor Newton
is a friend in need of your kind financial
support. Although 8 years old, Newton is still playful
and affectionate. He is being plagued by painful chronic
ear infections that can only be cured by the surgical
removal of his ear canals. He will then need four to six
weeks of recovery and careful monitoring by his foster
caregiver.
The financial estimate for Newton's surgery is $2000 but
may be more depending upon how quickly he recovers.
Without the
surgery Newton will continue to get chronic and painful
ear infections. Each ongoing treatment will require him
to be sedated to clean his ears, and ear drops are hard
to put in with the growths blocking the canal. Without
the surgery Newton will be be forced to live out his
years in constant discomfort.
Newton
desperately needs and deserves the compassion of those
willing to provide it. All donations will be applied
directly to Newton's surgical care. Please help HART
provide Newton his much needed surgery. He is a good dog
and seeks the quiet, predictable environment of an
adult-only home.

Thank you
for your consideration. Newton too, has a lot to give.
