Be part of the solution to animal welfare...
You can help
HART meet the challenges of supporting the care of
stray, injured and abused dogs and cats by making a
donation. Serving a large catchment area of 13
municipalities covering 20,000 square kilometers, HART
struggles to meet the needs of all animals coming to our
rescue door. Given a low population density, reported to
be 68% poverty line, fundraising is an ongoing
challenge.
Animal
ignorance prevails in this region where dogs are
routinely tied outside on a short rope or chain.
They live miserable lives with no intellectual or
emotional stimulation. Many are beaten for barking. Many
are simply shot. Vet care is not a consideration.
Those lucky
enough to be turned in to HART can spend months in our
foster care before they once again trust and feel
confident. Behavioral issues subsequent to a lifetime of
fear and neglect take time to address. Good diet,
de-worming and sexual altering are undertaken by HART to
restore the animal to physical well being, while
psychological needs are met. The loving touch of a human
hand becomes a powerful force for the healing of spirits
broken by abuse. Extraordinary vet care, such as the
setting of broken limbs, is provided those young enough
and well enough to recover.
HART cannot
begin to provide shelter for the thousands of homeless
feral cats in this region but we do work hard to provide
funds for SNIP and therefore hope to prevent the endless
stream of cats and kittens coming to the rescue door.
Please
be generous and help
HART to meet the unique challenges of funding our
work.
In 2007, 325 dogs and cats found support through HART's
Programs.
